    Hi all,

I´m looking for an inexpensive Laptop and I´m considering either Asus or Fujitsu in Germany. I don´t necessarily need a powerful laptop, since I´ve a powerful desktop, just a laptop to use when I want to work in bed or away from home. My budget is tops 1000 euros and I´ve no other preferences than quiet and cool.

I see that Asus is offering these lines and I would like to know which is best of them and which is worst? Are the build quality, screens etc very different between them?

Maybe this is too difficult question, but if somebody could tell if any of these series is better or worse than the others, I would appreciate it!

I used to have A6Ja notebook but I changed it to F3Ja because I wanted to have higher resolution screen. Here are some observations between them.

Build quality is about the same in these two. F3 is bit bulkier and heavier. F3 is newer model. There are some improvements compared to A6 design. The speakers are placed better, now they are on the top side. There are two usb ports on the right side and two on back vs. A6 four on back. Control and Fn buttons are now in normal order. Unfortunately monitor connectors are on the right side. I would prefer on back, like A6.

On normal office use A6Ja was virtually silent but F3Ja does have some fan noise. It does not bother me but difference is clearly there. F3 runs cooler and therefore is more comfortable on lap.

    Thanks for your reply.

I´ve decided to get a low end Asus (desktop extension) since it is the only company that gives a 2 year standard warranty in France. Still, the prices for A6 and A9 are down to 6-700 Euros and the F3F can be had for 850 euros (dual core.)

I have not seen any review of the A9, but it looks nice (even nicer than A6) and I hope the build quality is ok. Has anyone seen A9 or tried one?
