    I purchased Asus A6Ja notebook for about a year ago and it came with WXGA screen (1280x800). At the time, the screen resolution was great for me but now I would like to have a larger resolution so it would be great if I could somehow upgrade it to WSXGA+ (1680 x 1050). I was wondering if this is possible? If so, could you give me any pointers as to what I need to do?

    Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    Even if it is possible, it would be very expensive. Generally, the LCD's the costliest part that goes in.

    oh yes you can upgrade it

    This screen is the exact same one in the g1, the z96j and the v1.

    this is a source at random from google.

    It could be quite expensive when you consider the value of your machine.

    It is definitely possible. We have been doing it for years. Your only problem is the data cable. It is really a hit or miss. The data cable you have now may or may not support a higher resolution display. There is only one way to tell. check ebay for lcds they are pretty cheap but very likely have either minor or major defects expecially becuase they are used. for the proce though they are a bragain. if you can get your hands on a g1 data cable if indeed your cable does not work then the g1 cable may work. g1 and a6 are similar in construction and possibly share the data cable

    Much lower prices on new screens can be found here. I'm not sure why they are so much cheaper, but they are.

    Thank you for all your replies :)

    stamar, this is exactly the screen that I had in mind, I also found it through Google, but I wasn't sure if it would work or not. I am aware that the price is a bit steep, but I knew that from start ;).

    @Geared2Play

    thanks for the input. I'll try to find the g1 data cable somewhere, but I hope that the cable which I have now will work since there are stores already selling my laptop model equipped with WSXGA+ screen, so hopefully it's the same cable as in my machine.
