I recently installed Omega Drivers 3.8.291 (Catalyst 6.9) on my A6Ja ATI x1600. Its working fine except when I play my usual games (NFS/NBA), the screen 'shrinks' and there are 2 black 'bars' on the left & right sides. Its kindda like a movie in widescreen format with black bars on top, but in my case the black bars are on the left & right sides. Prior to the driver update, the games occupy all of the 15.4" screen.

Is this an inherent problem with the new driver? Or is there an setting w/c I have to adjust so I can make use of the entire screen while playing?

    TIA.

Yes I've had this problem with WC3 using Omegas. I think there is an ini file somewhere you can mod to fix this, but I don't remember where.

Don't use Omega drivers, problem solved. You want the latest Mobility Catalyst from ATI, nothing else.

The 6.9 drivers have a ton of issues - there have been lots of posts here reporting blue screens, no graphics on reboot, etc when installing even the stock 6.9s on x1600 machines.

ATI is up to 6.11 now, I would try those. Omega is more trouble then it's worth.

    Ok, thanks for the info.

If I cant solve my 'screen shrinking' problem, I'll put in the new ATI 6.11 driver. I hope the 6.11 is more stable than its predecessor. As it was released just recently, Im not sure if problems have already been reported on the 6.11. :D
