Currently on a business Trip in Taiwan, I was looking at buying a Z70V, W5A or a Z63A. However, the barebones were not available in stores here and was lead to the following: http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=5&l2=25&l3=134&model=533&modelmenu=1

This an updated version of the A6NE proposed by ISTNC or Proportable
It has the i915 chipset with DDR2 dual channel and the X700 128mb of the refresh Z70V!!!
Although about half a pound heavier than the Z70V (6.3lbs loaded) I got a default configuration with an M740, 512mb, a 60gb Hitachi drive, XP Home and the Toshiba Samsung dual layer DVD writer for US$1250!
    Amazing Deal.

Was just curious as to why it is not available in the US. Note the great look and the integrated 1.3mpixel webcam and microphone...

Nice one. US $1250 is an awesome deal for an Asus with those gaming credentials. At that weight though it is pushing into the DTR category. But bang for buck is certainly there.
Now we wait expectantly for a Turion MT (25w) based notebook with a Radeon X700, in an Asus Z70v carbon fibre chassis :) :asus:

The weight on it is actually not much different from the Z70V. I weighted both in the store and the difference is less than half a pound. The specs actually say that the weight is the same but in reality there is about 200gr difference. Not measurable to my arms. It is bulkier though by being 0.5" deeper. Thickness and width remain the same. I don't know what type of chassis it has anyone knows?. The laptop shell it self is a mix of carbon fiber and plastic.
The A6 also come in a Turion version although I have yet to see it...
