I just read a review of the Evesham C550 which is based on the Asus A6j and it said that laptop ran hot after an hour. I was just wondering if heat is a big issue for this laptop? Can anyone who owns it comment?

The tested model and the Core Duo 1.83 and Radeon x1600.

I do own an A6J with that same configuration.. generally it does run pretty hot, quite definitely too hot for use on your lap. The palm area is warm as well, but personally I don't find the heat a big issue, if an issue at all. I guess it kind of depends more on personal preference, maybe you can sort of imagine how you would react to some heat when you're working, since it's hard to describe the degree of heat in words.

You could also go with something like the "iLap" product which is an aluminum platform/lap rest that dissipates heat and doesn't cook laps.

Heat is unfortunately a by product of performance for now.

You could check and make sure some application keep running, and cpu's usage. If this issue cannot be solved, a cooling base can help.

I own A6Jc (NVidia7300). I use it as desktop replacement. It stands on iCurve and so far I haven't heard fan running. The noisiest is CD/DVD drive and the HDD compartment sometimes getting warm

I wont be using it on my lap at all - Ill always have it on a desk. The thing that worries me is the keyboard/palm rest area getting hot. This happens with my present laptop and i hate it.

Generally, does the keyboard/palm rest get noticably hot while surfing the web/writing documents?
