    hi all,

I try to find some review for A7S-A1, but it seems there's not many about it. Any one have one and can give me some pros and cons?

right now, I am debating which should I get A7S-A1 or G1-AK024C, I am not a gamer, but once in awhile, I do some gaming, mostly, I am looking for a notebook that has excellent performance, smaller and lighter than Toshiba P200, and can last me for a few years. Any suggestion?

if you're looking for 'smaller and lighter' the G1S is probably not for you. it's the biggest 15.4" laptop i've seen, and although its dimensions won't tell you, it really does feel as large as 17" offerings from many other brands. the 1" bezel on top of the lcd panel really adds a startling amount of perceived size to the unit.

I have had my A7S for two weeks now and am very pleased overall. I wanted a full multimedia notebook in a 17 inch package. Knew it would heavy (close to 8lbs.) and a good bit larger that my old HP 15 inch, but the A7S had all of the features I wanted. If you are looking for small and light, the A7S may not be for you. Size not a problem for me as very little air travel these days.

Had the same problem with reviews. Purchased from NewEgg.com and they had only two reviews, one excellent and one not good at all (just think the person did not like Vista). Check NewEgg.com for those and full specs.

As to Vista, there is no documentation that comes with the computer so I can see anyones frustration. Suggest “Windows Vista the Missing Manual” by David Pogue as it covers all versions of Vista, then you can see the new features of Vista.

Now as to what you ask. The notebook is quick and the display is very sharp and clear. Have not had any problems with the OS. Display is Wide XGA+ which is 1440 x 900 which is fine for these aging eyes. HD is only 4800RPM, but really don't think this will ever be a problem for me. HD is set up with two partitions. Have used all the Multimedia features and all worked perfectly. WiFi seems to have excellent sensitivity and BlueTooth works just fine. Connected an external 500GB HD to the eSATA connection (which dubs as a USB port also) and it is very quick (7200RPM) as I use it for my Camcorder movies. Like the layout of all the ports, as I did not want any ports on the right side (the only one is the power connection and the DVD/CD is also on the right side) or the fan exhaust there. Fan exhaust is on the back as well as four USB (one is eSATA), TV-Out Port, monitor port and the HDMI port. All others are located on the left side. Battery life is a little less that two hours in full High Performance Mode and a little more that two and a half hours in Battery Saver Mode. Of course you can adjust the LCD and HD on time to increase run time. Only software problem was when I loaded Madden NFL 2006 it would not run in Vista, so I set it to work in an XP SP2 environment and then it worked just fine.

    My Pros:
    Full Multimedia notebook
    Excellent display
    Very good for gaming
    Up to date technology
    Excellent size HD
2Gig memory (almost need for Vista)
    Full keyboard is nice.
    2 year warranty

    My Cons:
Too much Asus Bloatware (Check this forum which to remove)
    Can't program Asus hot keys
No separate volume control (can use the remote to adjust volume)
