    Hi guys,

I like both of these models. For those own either of these great laptops, how did you end up choosing?

I wanted something with dedicated graphics, small footprint and light. The W7J fit the bill.

There's a W7F sold in some regions and also the Z35F if you don't need the dedicated graphics in the 13.3" form factor (since you're considering the A8F, I assume dedicated graphics isn't that critical to you)

    Is that the main difference?

    W7J is lighter +
    W7J has smaller screen -
W7J has dedicated graphics card +
W7J can only expand up to 1.5GB ram while A8F can expand up to 2GB -

Dedicated graphics isn't a big deal for me. I don't play games but wouldn't mind doing some miniDV tape editing tho.

Don't forget the A8 series has DVI output should you ever need to use it on very large screens...

Edit: Sorry, bad information here, the A8F does NOT have DVI

I've been out of the computer market for some time so please excuse this basic question. How do I know if I should spend the extra cash on a dedicated graphics card? I don't plan on playing any games on my computer. The most graphic intensive thing I can see myself doing is getting my hands wet in video editing. I have tons of miniDV tapes from the past 4 years. It would be nice to be able to get these online.

the major perk in a dedicated graphics card is that it will aid in graphics intensive applications such as 3d rendering or 3d games. That being said, I personally think that unless you're going for pure value, meaning you only want to have a low price laptop, it's always worth it to get even a relatively low end card(geforce 7400/7300 or equiv). It basically future proofs your computer for a little while, and you might not think you need it now, but who's to say something you do in the future won't require it? Just my two cents.

I'm surprised to hear that. I thought that only the A8Jx had DVI.. I wasn't aware that the A8F also has DVI. Interesting... this makes the A8F quite the tempting choice.
