I keep hearing people hinting that later A8J models may include a DX10 card (of course nobody knows for sure yet). If that is the case, does it mean the other A8J models can have their graphics module swapped for the new DX10 card? Or are these GPU's we have now hardwired in and never coming out for anyone!

Chances are that you will not be able to upgrade your gpu once dx10 becomes available for notebooks.

Kinda makes me wanat to wait. Although I can't wait much longer. Have they even started talking about DX10 cards in laptops yet (ones that are affordable)?

The A8J series actually has their own proprietary graphics card. You can buy these parts at the Asus eStore.

Here is a side-by-side comparison of the Go 7700 and X1700 on the A8js and A8jp respectively.

Physically, the connections look identical. The issue would be mainly voltages, bios support, and software under the assumption the A8jr uses the same standard.

So yes... maybe... in a very remote chance... you might be able to upgrade the graphics card to a DX10 card like the X2000 series or Go 8000 series on the A8j.

If you can't wait, buy it -- And don't look back.
