    Hi

My new laptop seemed to crash out. What does the rapid beeping mean with and dark (back) screen. I have rebooted it several times but its not very stable. Temps seem OK and Im on AC power battery is 100%.

Its also not been very stable playing my favorite game UT2004 and been crashing to desk top after about 20 mins of play. The CPU;s never run over 72 C so far.

    Any help?

well memtest is a utility that can test ram

some hard drives actually have a speaker inside them and can beep when they are dying. I had one like that it was a toshiba
hdtune should show you the error if it is the hard drive.

I'm trying to use the recovery disk. The computer is very unstable, continually crashing. I believe the video card is bad, the monitor is going haywire. It will not run in Windows for more than 10 minutes. Thanks for the help so far.

Hmm... I'm with coriolis on this one; I think the RAM may be bad. With bad hard drives, usually everything is laggy... with bad RAM, everything is unstable. There could be many things causing the instability... but I'd blame the RAM first.

Im sorry the beeps are like the normal post beeps just very rapid like one every half second continiuosly until I press and held the on/off button.

After a few /on/offs i got it to go away and got back to windows for about 10mins but it crashed again back to blank screen.

I have used memtest but dont you have to run it off a floopy disk? I never ran it any other way.

I have had the computer about 10 days I got it from newegg so i guess i will rma it.

Where in a jam my wife has a big Pagemaker job and she needs the IBM up and running in less then a day. My regular died last month its been a mess ever since. Im on this mac that I hate atm.

Well looks like its dead. I ran the install disks which it made it thru but it will run about 10 mins in windows before the screen goes blank and the rapid beeping. Now this morning I cant get it to boot after being off for 3 hours. I'll contact Newegg today and wait for my box and sticker. I wish I could trade it for the Geforce model I just dont trust ATI any more and the lack of driver support is nuts as well.

Oh and just for a laugh too my wife went to Asus to contact them and it said its the Chinese new year and there won't be any one in the office for 10 days.

    So happy new year
