I noticed the touchpad on the a8 series is very different from the other asus notebooks. Has anybody got hands-on experience with it? In the store it seems to be more difficult to control, because the surface is less smooth than with ordinary touchpads.
    any comments?

    thanks.

I'm surprised - I'd expect the added texture to give better control and tactile feel. P.S. - buy it while you can if you're set on it...could be gone next time you go back.

also, the store may not have the touchpad at a very sensitive setting. it's probably possible for you to adjust the settings to fit your needs.

^ VERY good point. "Don't judge a book by it's cover" could almost apply here if you try hard enough.

The actual texture of a touch pad has little effect on how well the cursor moves. some touchpads in general are just better also you need to adjust settings.

It was not so much the response of the cursor, but the roughness (or stickiness) of the texture of the pad itself that seems to make it hard to move your finger across it. Maybe it feels differently with a more sensitive setting.

    thanks for the replies.
