    Hello everyone :)

I just received my A8JM yesterday and at the bottom of the screen... there seems to be a lot of light leaking out. Is this typical? Like it was bad enough that the first thing I noticed when I turned it on was like whoa, that's a lot of light coming out the bottom of the screen. It leaves it so that the bottom of the screen is lighter than the top.

    Thanks!

If it bothers you, then exchange it. No, it's not normal for it to do that

Actually, light leakage is usually quite common on all laptops, though some are never as bad as others. If its really bad, you can get it replaced.

Really? I thought it was rare for excessive light leakage.

It depends how bad it is, ryeth, do you have a picture of it?

If its a cm or so, then its typical, but anything larger isn't...

Yea, I realize almost every lcd leaks a little bit of light. Here are some pictures I took... sorry about the little bit of bluriness. No flash and my hands shake something bad :D Should give you an idea of what I'm talking about though.

That's definately major light leakage. The A8jm I had for a few hours had nothing like that.

    I'd get it replaced....

I think I'll do that. Will call the people I bought it from Monday morning and see what I can work :) I'm really impressed with the laptop so far except for that light problem.

can't see the pictures, was it attached in the post or PM'd?

Mine seems brighter at the bottom at certain angles.. but normally don't see much at all.

Darrick, check those pictures out now. Let me know what you think.

I forgot to redo the port forwarding on my netgear router. Had an issue with the internal wireless card and needed to upgrade the firmware on it.

Is it possible that it's just the viewing angle? What do pictures look like taken from other perspectives?

I contacted portableone today and they said the problem was definantly not normal. Their customer service is great too. They gave me a few different options as far as getting it fixed. I could send it back today to have the lcd replaced. They would send me a new unit (but no burn in/tests) since they would have to ship it today (Leaving for Canada on Thursday). Or when I get back from Canada, I can just send it to them then.

I opted just to send it to them when I get back from Canada so I can take it with me and have time to set it all up. Will be installing xp pro and linux tonight. I will try to do a quick review of the linux install since I've seen people asking about that.
