The laptop came with a lot of Asus's own software such as Asus' Netswitch, LifeFrame, MultiFrame, etc.. I am wondering where you can go and download those, I can't see to find it on Asus's download section for A8JM and I can't get them from the recovery disk as they are packed together with winxp home as one image.

All the Asus laptop only come with recovery cd, drivers & utilities CDs. They never put the Netswitch, LifeFrame, MultiFrame...etc in the box. All of them are not a necessary application for using a laptop, probably, you have to deal with a puchasing order for them from Asus.

Alright, I see what you are saying. So I suppose that would make installing a new windows a bit more difficult. Although most of softwares are of little use, I do want to get the utility buttons working such as power4gear.

What about just downloading those softwares from www.asus.com? There is power4gear for you.

I'm not sure if this is the case for the A8 series, but I've noticed that for the A6 series here in New Zealand that ALL of the software is included in the 1.6GB recovery partition, but NOT on the recovery CD's....
Might be worth checking somehow...

Thanks for the advice guys. I actually found that I have a driver and utility cd all the way at the bottom of my laptop box... I opened it up and it seems to contain all the software from Asus such as netswtich and stuff so I guess that's okay. As for recovery cd or partition, I haven't check them out so I am not sure what's in them, but from the manual it sounds like they simply just contain a image of the initial operation system.
A8JM's Asus softwares, where to get them?
