Anyone know exactly how to get spdif out of the A8JP?

I've read that it might be through a mini Toslink, or a proprietary 3.5mm connector, but no 1 seems to actually confirm.

And, also, if anyone is actually getting SPDIF out of their A8JP, does it passthrough the AC3 directly? If i can't get 5.1, i'm not going to bother :p

    cheers,

    /m

Its coax (you'll need a 3.5mm to coax adaptor), but you can get a optical converter. I got one that I used on my X-Fi card that works with my notebook from the creative site (1x Op In, 1x Op Out, 1x Coax In and 1x Coax Out all on a handy 3.5mm jack).

Is this a proprietory connector? I've never seen anything like this before, and i've seem some weird a55 adapters ;)

Is it a 4 conductor 3.5mm plug? if so, that makes sense.

Got a link to one mate?

isn't it a toslink/optical connector? My W3V has one, and you plug it exactly where the headphone jack is; it's a auto-sensing dual connection which allows the standard analog stero jack or the toslink/optical minijack like this:

Once you have it pluged in, make sure you have digital output enabled and the jack should start glowing red once you plug it in. It's a standard connector used by most of notebooks now, and the soundcard will detect the number of speakers once this is connected to allow 5.1/7.1 etc. Of course you will then need digital 5.1 speakers.

Awesome, that's what i'm looking for.

Do you get DTS or 6 channel at least?

I'm using a Creative Extigy (USB) right now, and i'm about to throw it out the window because AC97 filter won't passthrough DTS properly to my amp.

    I might as well just get a PS3 ;)
