Hi ! First post in these forum so here i go...
I'm always playing cs on this laptop and a few months ago it started to give me problem. I bought in jan 2007 so my warranty expires at the end of this year. To the problem... While playing cs (counter strike - source) , after a little while.. let's say about 10 min max about 20, my monitor will blackout ... as if the inverter on the laptop LCD died... but i can still hear the game and everything, so the laptop still working. So i'm trying to replicate the problem in many different ways.. I hooked up a lcd monitor to it .. when the screen goes blank the lcd still on... weird.. the maximum temp i'm seeing on my cpu is about 79 to 80C. If i leave my laptop overnight without doing anywork at all this phenomenon doesnt happen. Now i tried new drivers , and original drivers , both with a clean windows vista install. Now this is the strange part... somehow if i press the power button which would cause the pc to sleep , it does go into sleep and then i press right back to come back the lcd on the laptop comes back to NORMAL !!!!!!! ***FFFFFF ? Now i'm wondering.. heatsink ? driver's problem ?? ... and just one last thing... it seemed to only happen when i had vista with Sp1 installed.

screen saver + power management??

Yeah, reinstalling the ATK drivers, together with disabling the monitor turnoff from the Power Options, should be the first thing to try.

Possibly due to bugs. It's an easy thing to turn off so why not try it?

done.. still got the same problem... but now i did something different.. i didn't get the computer to blank out the screen ! ... i noticed i was using NHC when this happens ... NHC is working weird on my pc then... VISTA 32 SP1. Now that i removed it.. my computer play game until it overheats and shutsdown ... seems like an overheating problem to me... logs from speedfan shows 95C on Remote Temp before shutdown .. it never goes over 95 .... cores go up to 92C

Did you clean up the dust from the fan and heatsink fins, recently? If not, it's high time to do it... see the Info Booth / Maintenance, a cleaningguide of Coriolis is linked from there. It's best to try opening up the computer, rather than using compressed air.
Yeah, faulty NHC makes sense, because this issue looks like a power-management bug.Last edited by a moderator: May 12, 2015 -

NHC does this to my A8Jp every time I play a game. Guaranteed. I just turn it off when I want to play games, or don't I use it at all.

The OP said he removed NHC...
If you clean it regularly, then perhaps you could try a) reinstalling ATK drivers (if you didn't already to solve previous problem) and b) a new Windows install, in this order. If that doesn't fix the problem, you could change the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU.
Is the fan working properly? Does it spin up to full speed when the CPU/GPU heat up?
