(Cross posted in the A8JP Owner's Lounge)

    Hi,

Can anyone tell me what their drive configuration is in the BIOS? (press F2 during boot)
On my A8JP, the HDD is primary master and the DVD is secondary slave.

I'm asking because I'm getting daily BSoDs for "kernel_data_inpage_error" on atapi.sys.

I Ran MS memory diags and Seagate seatools long test with no errors found.
I found a bug in the MS knowledgebase that has a similar error when the HDD is slave w/ no master (like my DVD) and am hoping I found the cause as the DVD misconfiguration.

I'm also getting horrible DVD rip speeds and suspect this is the cause of that too.
    (PIO, no DMA)

    Thanks for any help,
    Jay

wll first off you should restore factory defaults in bios exit menu. bios has nothing to do with your error most likely. where are you getting this error? on post?> in windows? burning? more details please

    Hi,

Thanks for the response. I am aware aware that BIOS has nothing to do with the error. I was trying to determine if my laptop's DVD drive being configured as secondary slave instead of secondary master was intentional or a misconfiguration. The error has mostly occurred while idle but has occurred once while ripping a DVD.

    Thanks,
    Jay
