I am thinking of buying an A8JP and was wandering if it is possible to remove one of the factory 512MB memory sticks and replace it with a 1GB stick? Also what manufactures of RAM do you recommend?

Tim, you will absolutely be able to upgrade to 1.5 or 2.0 gb of ram. (and maybe even 4.0, if you really wanted to)

    btw

in my a8js I have dual channel running since I put in the 2nd gb. I noticed no speed increase. even 1% I would have jumped around but theres no difference.

So giving up dual channel to get 1.5 gb in your machine is a safe bet.

thats largely because he isnt giving up dual channel, it was pointed out several months ago that recent intel platforms support asymetrical( dont remember the exact term?) dual channel. meaning if their are two sticks of ram, it will run dual channel whether their the same size or not.

Yes, that is correct. Dualchannel doesn't need the memory modules to be the same size, but it will be slightly slower than if the modules were the same size. You know, when there, for example, is 1 1gig module and 1 512Mb module only 1 gig will then be in dualchannel. Or work faster I mean.

I put Kingston into my Z33, but only because they were the only of the large manufacturers to offer the MicroSODIMM that it uses (and when they say Micro they mean Micro...smallest memory I've ever seen)
