    Hi everyone,

I have an A8Js and just recently upgraded my oem-installed XP to Vista.

Whenever I close and then open the laptop lid/screen, when I reopen it the screen stays black. Anyone know why this is happening?

The only way I can recover is to do Alt+F4 and hit enter to make the computer restart or go into standby. Then, when I turn it back on I can see the screen again.

    Definitely an annoying characteristic.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

PS - using the latest nVidia drivers from the Asus website... I believe they are from April 2007.

Have you installed updates from Windows Update?

Used to happen to my A8JS. Try closing the lid and opening it again. After a couple of times (usually the first) it brought it back to life.

This problem is usually due to a combination of ACPI and video drivers.

Update the ACPI drivers to latest, and try the following video drivers:

    - from support.asus.com
    - modded from laptopvideo2go or whatever the name is

An easier solution is to hit Fn+F7 twice. That should also bring your screen back to life.
