Seems like A8JS is already out, with the spec as the following: Link. The street price right now is about 14,000-15,000 Yuan, which is equal to about $1,750 to $1,850, but then again the notebooks in China might be a bit more expansive than in US. A8JM is about 12,000 Yuan which is $1,500. I know on many website A8JS is listed as $1,500, hopefully that's the way, but before the thing actually comes out, you can never be sure. It seems the demand for the laptop is really high, I have heard the rumor that Asus wants to keep the general pricing of A8Jm while bumping the price of A8JS a little bit, instead of dropping the price of A8Jm and bring A8JS to the same price level as A8Jm is now. Well, we will see I guess.

Keep in mind that Chinese prices can always be haggled down. North American prices generally can't be.

Yeah I know, but there is a bottom line price also. I actually went to the store to haggle and that's about the price I got. For A8JS, the lowest I think is about 13,800, and for A8JM, it is about 11,800. The unhaggled price is much much higher, I have seen a A8JA listed for 12,000 and the real price is about 9,700, but there is still a bottom line.

The price I listed is the price I have seen posted on forums after some people haggled and bought or the price I was offered after I haggled, not listed price.

    Edit: Typo

The NA version also has 1 gb, 100 gb 5400 rpm hd.

IF the chinese price were 1800, the NA price of 1600 seems exactly in line.

Well, I am just saying the price after haggling is already between $1,750 to $1,850. At any rate, if NA's sell price is going to be $1,600, that also means they will drop the price on A8JM because there is no way it will still be priced at $1,500 when A8JP is only $100 more.

My point is looking at the current Chinese market, since the demand is so high, they did not drop the price of A8JM, but instead raise the price of A8JP. Hopefully that won't be the trend in the U.S.

Ok well yes i agree. If it shapes up like that, it would be $100 for 7700 and c2d. Not a steal but someone might want the a8jm.

Some sort of discount would have to come into play to move the a8jm, maybe it would fall to $1300.

what is the difference in price between the a8js and the a8jp? $100 us?

I have to ask something to make something clear. First you said the a8js and then the a8jp. So they are both for sale at once in taiwan then in your experience? And what is the difference? And what about availability?

My mistake, I meant A8JS, not ASJP. A8JP is sold here, but very rarely and a fair amount of them come with T5400 instead of T7200, A8JP also comes with x1700 instead of go 7700, but as a lot of reviews have already shown, x1700 proves to be inferior to go 7700. There seems to be plenty A8JS available, at $1800 a pop, a lot of people are still holding off until it drops to around $1450 or so. Also, the price I am talking about is in Chinese mainland, not sure about taiwen though.
