ummm.... The A8js is not out yet... And I don't think it will be out for another month or two. Just stick around and wait for a review to show up. It will most likely be very similar to the A8jm in terms of build quality. It will just be a little faster with a merom chip and that 7700go.

So far the 7700go is roughly5-10% better than the 7600 go, and merom is roughly 5-10% better than Yonah.

It would seem like the A8js would be on average slightly faster than the previous models, but with 64bit processing of course.

Is there any ETA on the release there at milestone? Was at one of your outlets the other day and the A8Jm caught my eye and im beginning to lose hope on the waiting game. Ive been waiting since mid july for an asus with merom and beginning to lose my patience, any idea when we can see the release of this or perhaps the A8Jm with merom? Or should i just bite the bullet and pick up something at present?

The W3J is due with Merom end of this month (so I have seen from a website here in the UK), possibly only the 1.86GHz/2MB cache variety.

I am tossing up between the W3J and the A8Js... but the latter may not ship to the UK (as the A8Jm does not), also the W3 is definitely a better build quality than the A8 series.

I live in canada, and was in one of milestone's stores just yesterday looking at the A8Jm, it was mighty tempting to just pick it up there on the spot, it just seems that this waiting thing isnt working for me and i should just take a dive, now if i could get some reasonable idea when to expect this stuff it would help with my decision, seems like its all just big windows sadly :(

Feral if it makes you feel any better A8Jm is supposed to have a little more battery life :)

previous pattern would suggest the a8jp will be for sale in the uk, with the 256 mb x1700. It is already for sale in europe and might already be for sale in the uk. Im just trying to help you out. I would think of that as bad news as well.

I will quote milestonepc.com and say mid september, 1 gb 100 gb 5400 rpm hd 1599.

If he has newer information than he said hopefully he will contradict me.

Im hopefully going to post a review and my satisfaction with it. But I really doubt I'll be one of the first ones.

I'm pretty determined to get one but Im ready to deal with some difficulty. It can only be a cabbage patch type of item when it reaches the usa.

Oooh I didnt know about that model - thanks for the heads up. It would be great to see a head to head comparison between the models - 7600, 7700, X1600, X1700 to see what the differences in performance between the GPU's actually is.

Theres a heads up comparison translated from chinese somewhere in this asus forum.

Ok what Im trying to make clear is that they probably wont sell the a8js to the uk, you wont be comparing them to see which is better. They sell one or the other usually.
