    hello everyone..

i bought my a8js about a month ago and i just today got around to doing 3dmark06 on it.. at the same time i ran the test on my desktop with the following specs.

    p4 3.0 socket 775 2mb l2 cache
    P5ND2-SLI motherboard
1 gig ram in dual channel
    evga 7600gt 256mb video card
    80gb wd sata hdd

now my desktop got 2848 3dmark06.

    and my laptop got 2672.

now from what i understand my core 2 duo and geforce go 7700 512 is definately statistically better than what i got in my desktop.

i have reformatted my hdd and freshly installed windows.. ive been using it just fine since then.. i didint have anything running in the background durring each benchmark.. does anyone have any ideas as to why these bench's are this way?

    thanks for taking the time

i see, i was unaware that the 7700 wasent actually considered better than the 7600gt.. ive been playing alot of World of warcraft and ive noticed that my framerates have gotten erratic while playing wheras when i first started playing on it they were steady most of the time.. so thats why i started looking into the benchmarks..

i appreciate your help wacky.. if you have any ideas as to evening out my framerates, it would be greately appreciated.

i also have an A8Js and i also got similar scores
the 7600GT for desktop is superior to the one in the laptop so its understandable

you can overclock to get better scores

heh.. my fan spins like crazy as it is..not sure about overclocking.. unless i could put some sort of heatsinks on the memory attached to the other side of the video card.. im sort of a cooling nut.. you should see my desktop setup :D

yes it is strange actually that you have almost the exact same computer on your desktop as your laptop.

Even though the number is higher the 7700 is not better than the 7600 gt. It is very similar but it is clocked lower.

If your gameplay is gettung erratic, it's time to see if you are going over 1GB on RAM use. Open Task manager and see if you are going over 1GB, if so, then you can either get more RAM (best option) or see if your HD is fragmented and defrag it (may help a little).

You shouldn't even be comparing notebook to desktop GPUs, no matter how close the numbers are. The "go" is in go7700 for a reason.

Wiz has a point, check your memory consumption first... especially if you're running several apps alongside WoW.

Actually, I was only surprised about how close the go7700 got to a 7600gt in 3Dmark06... less than a 200 point gap is very impressive. :)

Also keep in mind that if ur using vista, NVidia vista drivers are still under development. As new updates come, expect better 3d performance.
