After comparing laptops and reading numerous reviews over the past 2 weeks, I finally decided on the A8JS.

The three most important things I've been looking for are portability, ability to play the latest games, and preferably Windows XP. Although Vista wouldn't bother me too much, I think I would rather wait until it's worthwhile. The A8JS seems like the perfect choice for me.

So after a lot of research I thought I was ready to make my purchase... Then I heard about Santa Rosa and now I'm just confused on what to do. I must make the laptop purchase by the end of the month so that makes things even worse.

I don't know what to expect from Santa Rosa or how long it will take until laptops with it are being sold with my needs. I fear that if I wait too long the A8JS's with XP will sell out. From what I've read Santa Rosa won't be very beneficial upon being newly released. To wait or not to wait? It's driving me crazy, I just don't know what I should do.

Any opinions or suggestions on what I should do would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

DX10 is the main advancement with the Santa Rosa A8Js; the Go8600 is supposed to perform close to the Go7800. Santa Rosa will also provide overall better performance. The A8Js is scheduled to get Santa Rosa in June or July, and I personally think it is well worth the wait.

The A8SC (not part of the A8J series I guess) will be out next month with an 8400m. I haven't seen any benchmarks for it yet, however; the 8600M-GS is getting scores marginally better than the 7600/7700.

The good news is the true successor to the a8js is coming in July with an 8600M-GT, which is scoring better than the 7900gs.

Compal will beat it to the market with i think its called fl 100

    its a 14 inch with 8600 gs.
Maybe you could say that the 7700 go is better than the 8600 gs because it has a higher 3dmark score but if i were investing soon id go for the new compal.
When the 14 inch with 8600 gt comes out thatll be the one to go for. At least the first scores seem to say that
