The memory I have is listed as made by "FFFFFFFF," 1GBx1, 4-4-4-12 @ DDR533.
I'm considering upgrading with another 1GB stick; Newegg has one for $53 + ship which is tempting, but it's DDR667.
From experience with desktops I'd assume that DDR667 can run at DDR533 with lower timings-so freaky compatibility issues aside, should this work in my system? Also feel free to use the deal yourselves =D

Looks good! You may throw us a link so that others can see this, it has a good price, plus we know G skill and Patriot ram is nice a cheap.
Yes you are correct, 667mhz ram can run at lower speeds, your system will operate at the lowest speed of the ram modules, in this case 533mhz. -
It should work. It will just be downclocked to 533MHz.

Thanks, both of you! I'll probably get it soon.

Does brand name matter that much in notebook memory for instance is corsiar or crucial that much better than off brands?
-
Now I'm tempted to do the same for my a8jm.
Where do you install the second stick? Is the second memory slot located next to the first slot, or is it in a different location?
Edit: Actually, nevermind, I figured it outThe second memory stick goes in right above the first one. This wasn't apparent from the disassembly guide, but it was immediately obvious when I took off the back cover

Many do like Corsair ram, but it is more expensive, Crucial, G Skill, Patriot are usually cheaper in price but many still purchase them. So you do have options when looking for ram upgrades. -
I put a 1 gig Kingston memory in my A8jr. Works beautifully, dual channel and all. If you go to their website you can actually search by manufacturer and model!
-
I put 2gb GSkill ddr2 667 5300 into my a7j and it was $124. It's cheap and easy to do.
lots of nice deals here -
If anyone's curious, the RAM works great and it's in dual-channel mode too. Hurrah for Newegg's shipping.
