a very good price for a very good laptop, although that 7600 with 512mb seems like its shared, not dedicated.

According to a few posts in my graphics card guide it is actually 512mb says the same on the Asus site But I agree its bizzare having a 512mb when most 17" DTR notebooks dont even have that. Maybe Its a typo?.

No typo... It is strange though. The only other 512MB notebook card I know of is the 7900GTX has a 256 and a 512MB version. I think there also might be a couple Quadro or ATI Fire workstation cards out there. Not sure if those are 512 dedicated. But that is quite a good price, $1499 for all that you get, it seems like a winner. ;)

Yup, while it's probably overkill the go7600 has 512MB dedicated... Only the 7200, 7300 and 7400 utilise TurboCache technology.

^^ It had the bluetooth light built in so you can install it. That's wut it means. It has the ability of the bluetooth built in to function like a normal bluetooth, but u hafta purchase the actual connector thing.

then under the main laptop description it says this
Triple Speed Connection with Wireless Freedom
Responding to the emerging demands of notebook users who have a number of simultaneously working Bluetooth peripherals on their system, including mice, keyboards, headsets, and mobile phones, the A8Jm notebooks, with the built-in Bluetooth® V2.0+EDR, offer maximum data transfer rates of 2.1 Mbps, 3 times faster than the current device can manage, and hence reducing power consumption, which greatly benefits battery-dependent mobile devices.

I think they just copied and pasted a stock description without changing that Bluetooth part. I've seen the exact same description on retailers sites. I think at Ncix and Infonec.

^ yup that's what it looks like, as for we know that NA did not get an Internal Bluetooth Module, you can put it in for like 60-90$ and it takes some time, i suggest letting a retailer put it in.

Yup 1500$ USD is an awsome price for a laptop of that caliber!

    Nice find.

    Thanks,

asus is the manufacturer of the 7600 go.

So they reach the market first with the 512 mb version.

It is way ahead of the us market, it is 512 mb gpu, and its not in a boutique or even a 15 inch its in a 14 inch.

How does that graphics card compare to a GeForce Go 6800 256mb ? How would that graphics card handle games?

Its weaker then the 6800, but more powerful then a 6600. It's in the middle about.

Anyone think you're better off spending the ~$50 more and ordering from Portableone? Mainly for customer service, versus ZZF's basically non-existant cs? $1500 is a lot of money to be throwing around, seems like it would be worth it.

Update..don't bother ordering this unless you want to wait an undisclosed amount of time. They do NOT have them in stock..sd they order them from asus as the order comes in. Said it would be a week or more..but they are not sure. I cancelled my order and will probably go thru portableone.

    What's up,
That's sad to hear cdd543 (about the long wait time for the notebook). They should know that when a customer spends $1500 they better have it in stock! Oh well at least you were able to cancel the order with no hassle and look elsewhere.

I have a Nvidia Go 6800 and stock I get 3750 in 3dmark05. (I have it overlcocked to do 5k in 05') The X1600 gets around 4000 in '05. I would handel every game out there on the highest settings. Games like FEAR, the resolution or something might need to be turned down a little...

The X1600 is WAY more powerful than the 6600. The 6600 scores 2500 in '05. Depending on the card (Clock settings), the X1600 can also be more powerful than the 6800. Or sometimes 6800's win over the X1600. They are quite close... It just depends..
