    Hey guys,

Whenever my A8Jm's screen turns off (e.g. when the setting for that is 2 minutes and 2 minutes of inactivity pass) it won't come back on. THe computer is definitely still running as I can put it to sleep and turn it back on with the Fn combinations, but the screen just refuses to turn back on..

I didn't have this problem when I first bought the A8Jm and I'm not entirely sure what I've done to change that. I have a friend (who I convinced to get the A8Jm) who has the same problem.

    Any suggestions? Thanks.

I had the same problem with my W3J, read this thread I started HERE

Turned out to be the Power4Gear for me and was fixed as soon as I removed the program and restarted my computer.

    Good luck!

I couldn't find a permanent fix, but try closing the lid for a second and opening it. Works for me anytime I get the blank screen.

i read somewhere about turning off 'prompt for password' in the power settings in control panel. it worked for me and is an easy way out. only seemed to happen after i upgraded to 211 bios

Thanks! This indeed solved the problem. Getting rid of Power4Gear seemed to work at first but then my system went back to being naughty.

my "prompt for password" has been off the whole time i had it but when i put it in hibernation and i get out, sometimes the screen is still blank. So i have to put it to hibernation (Fn + F1) and turn it back on to get my screen going again.
I'll try the closing lid and opening again thing and see if that works in the future...

    I don't have Power4Gear installed.
I don't have the prompt for password option checked.

My A8J is still not working right.

I know I can close the lid and open it again, but that's not a solution. I don't want to have to shut my lid and open it again when I'm halfway through a presentation to a panel of profs. It's already happened once.

First it's uncontrollable microphone feedback during every startup, and now this. These stupid problems seriously piss me off.

If this problem isn't fixed, I don't think I'll buy another Asus product ever again.
