Hi guys. Even though these laptops arent available yet for sale, I was wondering which of them would be a better pick.
This is assuming of course that both laptops are available for sale in the US.

The A8Jm and A6Jm are almost identicle in specs except for the A6Jm is a 15" with the option of SXGA+ LCD, while the A8Jm is a glossy WXGA 14".

Both have the go7600 512mb video card.

however I dont know what to do. Should i go for the smaller, lighter and prolly more battery efficeint A8Jm?
    Or
Should i go for the larger, heavier A6Jm with the possibility of a SXGA+ lcd?

I would use the laptop for:
    1) Linux Dev & XGL Goodness
    2) Graphic manipulation and editing
    3) DVD watching
    4) Gaming in windows (7600go 512MB!!)
    5) Internet, im, irc etc

Well, on paper, its hard to say, without knowing what you'll use it for, etc.

thing is that i heard that the A6Jm would offer a SXGA+ lcd.
however if both the A8Jm and the A6Jm only offer WXGA lcd then im going for the smaller A8Jm

Yeap, the A8jm is only a tad larger, in terms of footprints, and offer alot more estate, 1280x800 vs 1400x1050

    actually the A8Jm = 14" while the A6Jm = 15".
if the 15" A6Jm is cheaper than the A8Jm then i will take it only if it has the SXGA+ screen..

anyone know if the A6Jm is even coming to the US?

Definitely go with the A8Jm! It has everything the A6 has...but in a smaller, more appealing package.
I love the look of the new touchpad :)

I believe the A6Jm will come in a 15.4" WXGA... no? I think only the V6 series has SXGA+ now.

Yeah I know what you mean... I'm a poor uni. student too, but I was able to afford the Z63a :)
I'm sure the A8Jm won't be too expensive... it IS an A series notebook afterall.

I doubt it does, most are Fn+F10/F11 for volume control

does that mean it will work in linux?
cuz on my current laptop, the volume buttons are hardwired to the sound. so when i use them it works.

will the Fn+F10/F11 combo need certain drivers etc?
not really a big deal, but just curious
