I was really happy to have my new A8Jp back after Asus replaced the clicking hard drive. I was doing a clean instal of windows media center, I powered out once it wanted the driver/bloatware disk, I turned it back on, and it shut off sometime during the final set up. Now it only gets a second or two past the Asus startup screen and then it shuts down right away. It also does not turn on all the time, it will turn out after letting it sit a long time usually.

Anyone know what this might be? I'm trying to decide it I should send it to Newegg (who I got it from) or Asus.

Put the disks back in and restart the restore process. If that doesn't do anything, it definitely needs service.

Newegg is reluctant to outright replace computers. Call them for information, and only send it back to Newegg if they explicitly say they will replace it when they receive the broken one. Otherwise it will just be sent to Asus when Newegg gets the RMA, and Asus will repair it and return it to Newegg (who then will return it to you) and you will not have your computer for 3 weeks.

I recommend just creating an RMA with Asus. When I dealt with their service dept, they had the computer back to me within one week.

Thanks for the reply! I will definitely call Newegg and get a confirm on a replacement before sending to them. If they are just going to send it to Asus I'll do that myself.

I forgot to mention I tried to restore/clean install again, it powers off a second after the boot from CD or HDD screen comes up. I've tried on battery only (it was 100% and plugged in when the problem started, so there is power), plugged in with and without the battery.
