Well I was going through my new laptop, removing all the unnecessary asus software. Now my wireless button doesnt work, but the bluetooth and all the others still work. What do I need to reinstall?

While I'm here, I've been following some other A8 threads but still haven't got a straight answer. Has anybody found a way to stop the 'instantfun' program from starting at startup or when coming out of hibernation without uninstalling the program?

    Any help would by appreciated.

    Thanks

With regards to your wireless button, reinstall the Wireless Console, and the ATK0100 and Hcontrol, that should get everything working again. You can find these on your A8J Driver/Utilities CD.

For your instant fun, think about it this way, do you even use it? I personally think it is quite useless, and it just looks nice, but that's about it. From practical terms I rather just have a dedicated spot on my hard drive (F: Drive) for all my movies, music, games, pictures and more.

Just incase you haven't checked, look at your startup programs, Start -> Programs -> Start Up.

Also you can do Windows + R (Start -> Run) and them type "msconfig" and then uncheck certain programs that you don't want to start up, when you boot.

Cheers m8, I installed everything but hcontrol. Where's that located on the cd. I haven't been able to find it.

I suppose your right about the instantfun program. I just don't like having a button on my PC thats rendered useless when I uninstall it. I'll get rid of it soon.

Thanks for your help again buddy.

edit: I'm now getting a 'unable to load the Intel Muroc API' error when I press the wireless button

I had that problem too. It turned out that I needed to have "intel proset wireless console" installed as well. This should also be on your driver CD or on the Asus website.

    Good luck with that.

hmmm, reinstalled the console, I don't get an error any more but I'm back to square one. The buttons not working. I'm getting tempted to just start fresh to get this thing to work. Any more Ideas?

    Thanks again people.
