    Hey guys,

For a while now my HDD is making clicking noises ever few seconds for no good reason. It usually does that when i am not loading anything (idle). Its not very loud, so it does not sound unhealthy. More like hdd head is snapping or something. I noticed this after i installed the new bios (.11) Is there is possibility that the HDD is defective? its a 100GB 5400.

Does anyone have a similar problem?

Can i flash my bios back to v.10 ?

    Thanks

I somewhere read that you could flash it back with winflash using "/nodate" or something like that... Don't know exactly.

Clicking is usually a bad thing. I would start by checking your drive health. There is a thread on this in the hardware section, with a link to a bunch of different drive tools. Check Here

Haha, freakin v.11, you know, with vista, Dual Screen Support suddenly started working after Flashing Back to v.10. I flashed back Using The flash ultility in the Bios itself, its awesome. Btw, the Clicking noise seems to be gone too now.
Do you think that the V.11 bios could have somehow had a bad effect on my hardware or can a bios not damage a machine ?

Sometimes ASUS does give out weird BIOS upgrades.Still, we see this kind of stuff with many other things.Like, say, ATI catalyst Drivers, the 6.8 was the driver of choice for many users, the other versions all had stability/external display/etc problems until the 6.12 was released.

Ok, I just got my A8JS yesterday and flashed to the latest bios. I can confirm that the issue exists. I also have an A8JP and the HD was never clicking like it is with the A8JS.

Someone else reported the same issue with the latest bios on the F3T as well. I think there is a problem with the latest bios files that Asus is posting.

How do we go about reporting this problem?

fearme, just download the file to your main hard drive, then go into the bios and start the flash utility. It will let you browse to the bios file and then flash for you.

Yes, the bios integrated flash utility can read from ntfs drives.
