    I'm looking for the following details from people who have CPU scaling working on their A8Js;

    1) Do you have a CPU that scales up and down dynamically with the load?
    2) Is it the US/Canada stock CPU C2D T7200?
    3) Are you using Power4Gear or NHC to do this CPU scaling?
    4) How do you monitor the CPU speed? (to know the scaling is working)
    5) What BIOS version are you running?
    6) Do you have any BIOS settings for the CPU frequency?

    Also does anyone know if there another way to get BIOSes for the A8Js besides going to support.asus.com (specifically looking for new releases)?

    Thanks..

    Hm, I don't have an A8JS, but I'll take a stab at some of those anyway if you don't mind ;)

    1 & 2) All Core Duo and Core 2 Duo CPUs (and Pentium Ms, for that matter) will frequency scaling, to a fixed setting or to load depending on the program being used.
    3 & 4) I use Notebook Hardware Control on 'Dynamic Scaling' when on AC, and on 'Max Battery' when on battery, with the system tray CPU speed indicator, on my Z33. MobileMeter may have similar functionality.
    6) There shouldn't be any BIOS settings required as scaling is done in software.

    Owners correct me if I'm wrong ;)

    Thanks for the pointers, but I'm trying to diagnose a problem I'm having with CPU frequency scaling not working on my A8Js, by hearing from others who have it working on their A8Js'. So again if someone who has it working can give me their details by answering the questions in the OP, it would be helpful. (I don't need someone to diagnose my computer, as much as I need someone to tell me how it works, when it's ..umm.. working..)

    Thanks

    Get CPU-Z; if it's working, you will see a clock speed less then 2.00Ghz in the 'clocks' section on the lower left hand side of first tab.
