    Hello all,

This problem started happning to my A8Js about 4 months ago

I never really thought too much about it, but it gets PRETTY annoying now...

basically one day I was out with my lappy and listning to some music when the left speaker on the A8Js began to CRACKLE. a LOT. its really noticable.

when i took it home, i plugged in my external speakers and tried it out.
Same thing. I plugged and unplugged my external speakers to make sure it wasnt a problem with the speakers.
Both my laptop speakers and my external ones were crackling (just the left speaker).

The problem here is that it happens from time to time..
it'll crackle for a good 30 minutes, and then go away and work perfectly fine...

    is this a soundcard issue?
it cant be my speakers cause it crackles with the external and without

the stupid part is if i bring my laptop to the support site, and they ask me to prove to them its crackling, i might not be able to, since its an on and off thing

    any ideas?
    thanks in advance

    cheers

I've noticed this on occasion, but not at the moment, so I guess it's a temporal problem. Never noticed it on external speakers tho - always thought it was an issue with the internals coping with really high volume.

I noticed this too, I think because of a game that was too loud  but I never nailed it down. In general the sound quality is tinny anyway.

If it was just the notebook speakers, then I would have thought a loose wire was causing it. BUT, with both internal and external speakers affected, it's either a driver or software problem. Does the volume of the crackle go up as you increase the sound volume when it happens?

As for proof, and assuming it only happens are low-moderate volumes rather than being distortion, try grabbing a friend's digital camera and taking a short movie of the event. That should do the trick.
