My CPU temp is idling at around ~62 degrees Celsius and when I play an old game like Unreal Tournament 2004 at a 800 x 600, it jumps to 76 degrees+ until my computer shuts it self down within 5 minutes. It takes about 30mins for it to cool down before I can turn it back on.
The fans are always running loud, even when idling. I noticed my laptop had been running hot a few weeks ago, but didn't do anything about it. Now it's really effecting my comp. I can't play an old game or run an intensive application without my computer overheating and shutting down.
If anyone could help me out, i'd greatly appreciate it...
If it helps, I attached some pictures of the temps

Time to clean your fan and invest on a cooling pad. Check the guides below as well

ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
Indeed. The age of the system alone suggests that there's gunk in the way creating your problem.

Well, I opened up my laptop and cleaned as much as I could with a cotton swab. It didn't look very dirty, but I seem to be idling at ~58 degrees now so I'm guessing it must have helped.
I'll pickup a bottle of compressed air tomorrow and see if that helps too.
What's the average idle temp for a laptop like mine? -
Did you get to removing the fan and getting to the heatsink grill/fins from the inside? That's the place where dirt usually accumulates the most.

are you sure it had nothing to do with indoor temp?

Check the fan and grill as EBE suggests - if you got 5C improvement with what you already did, you're on the right track to get back down to nominal temps. -
I join you in being an A8Js owner who keeps a clean laptop, uses a cooling pad........ and experiences the machine completely shutting down while playing old games due to temperature.
I have yet to find a solution other than crossing fingers. -
If it's out of warranty you can try changing the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU dies.

When my gf was using the A8Js, the buildup of gunk eventually damaged it to the point where everything sorta lagged. I sent it in to Asus and the replaced the GPU and the top of part of the base (wrist pad).
Now that it's my computer, I clean it out every couple of months with a can of compressed air. Quite a lot of dust gets inside.
A8Js overheating, CPU temp > 76
