You don't have a credit card? Are you talking about sending in a check or money order?

See, if supply was good that would be one thing, but when we're talking about the availability of a dozen units that will be gone in a couple days, it's unfair to those who can pay now and want a system now to hold it for someone else. There will be another shipment coming in one week later and that too will be small, but it would be easier to secure one of those for you than one from the shipment that will be here on Wednesday.

No I dont have a credit card.

As far as a deposit how is this usually done? I mean I could do like $100 debit card deposit so the deposit is immediate.

justin thank you for your time.

Eddie at geared2play has reserved one for me meeting my circumstances. I think I am settled I dont want to waste any more dealers time thank you others for your time as well.

    Quick question:

How much of a difference (i.e. %faster) will a SATA150 7200 rpm drive be over a SATA150 5400 rpm drive. How would either of these compare to an ATA133 7200 drive (which is what's on my desktop, i'd like the lappy drive to be comprable)

    Thanks

Typically we don't take deposits, we can take someone at their word as they're not taking it till they pay for it and it's not a custom system that needs to be built. In this situation it was simply about being fair to those who either put orders in already or had sent that email over the last couple months wanting to know when the advanced order pages went up or when we got them in stock. I wish I could have helped, but we've having to turn away people who are offering to pay extra to get ahead of others.

peekaboom: that question - quick or not is really off topic and for the future should be asked in the general forum. However, I say that I used to see what I've calculated in the past as up to a 35% increase in performance, but that number on the sata drives seems less, although I haven't done the math. I know that a 5400 sata drive comes a lot closer to the performance of a pata 7200 than it did a pata 5400. Hope that helps.

    Thats cool.

A retail store would normally take a deposit on anything.

I mean, saves them time selling it to someone else and shelf space.

If I'm not actually buying this thing Id have to be the most elaborate hoax ever lol Ive written a books worth of posts on this machine the last month.

But I'm done shopping! Im so happy.

A lot of the first buyers will get theres about a week before me so someone else here is going to be the first review.

But Ill definitely make a review.

What is this Transflective (UVA) option available from portable one and is it worth it?
    Is it an Asus option?
Anyone have the best price on the A8js to get in Los Angeles, (IE free shipping and no tax)
Looking for 2gb, xp pro, bluetooth
Also anyone have thoughts on a 100gb 7200 rpm drive vs a 160gb 5200 rpm drive.
    Is there any noticable difference?

    Thanks!

As far as I know the only place to get internal bluetooth is portableone

the uva screen is their own thing not asus.

they are in california so you would have to pay tax.

i dont recomend upgrading it in any way just buying 1 gb and putting it in yourself.

You people with hard drive questions make a new thread. It used to be that a 7200 vs a 5400 was roughly a 25% increase at best. Now with the new perpendicular 5400.3 like I have, the cap closed to around 5%, very close. Might as well get the extra space, slightly less heat, and less noise. Ok back on topic please :)

here is portable ones uva screen

    http://alpincorp.com/triolcd.htm

i do believe you can get that screen on any notebook made. You can look into it yourself if you are in that kind of market.

Id personally rather break my lcd first before i pay to replace it. knowing that they do break.
