Would it be a good idea for me to buy an A8Js at this time or within the next couple of months? I want one because of its portability and gaming power with the go 7700.

Will any 14" laptops with 8600m gpus be coming out soon in the same price range (besides zepto)?

Is there any possibility of a price drop on the A8Js with Santa Rosa and Dx10 cards being out?

    Thanks in advance

In the next few months, Asus should be releasing their F8S series with the intent of replacing the current A8J series.

The F8Sv would be available with a 8600GT and the F8Sa would be available with the HD 2600. The F8S seems to be a little larger than the A8J, but incorporates the bamboo hinge design as seen in the W3 and maybe a TV tuner. Still only has a 6 cell battery like the A8J though.

Another possibility is the V2S with the 8600GS which will replace the V2Je.

F8 will be out beginning of september with limited quantities mid-auguest according to the ASUS rep my cousin spoke to in Taiwan.

    V2S is already available for pre-order =]

Thanks, do you know if these will be in the same price range? Like around $1500.

If you can wait for either f8 model it would be well worth the extra money

So you would expect the F8's to be more expensive than the A8Js? :(

Considering the V2S will cost $1750, I'd expect the F8 to cost around $1600 at release. I'm willing to bet that it'd go down to the $1500 range after a few weeks.

    id agree with admlam
the F8 will no doubt be cheaper than the V2. id look in the $1500-1600 range when it is first released.

well the f8 will be full retail and the a8js will have a discount

whatever that difference is, like $250 or so the f8 will give you a hell of a lot for $250

Like more ram better cpu and gpu and hd, and the ports.

I mean I dont even know the figures I just know the laptop market. The a8js is almost a year old now, so the sr update has 10 months of tech behind it. Its always a better deal to get the newest thing.

It might have the new wsxga 14 inch screen too. Watch for that, the a8js actually had one of the first wxga+ screens that was its selling point too, so now the 14 inch thinkpad has the wsxga screen , I wouldnt be suprised if the f8 has that.
