Looks like they say it will be available in mid October. I will get one of these if the screen and build quality are good.
What an amazing package for a 14.1" screen...now I can travel AND have fun!
The only thing I would add to the list of features is a dual graphic card switching option for when I want the best battery life...I know the 7 series eats less power than ever but probly burns more than the integrated card.
A minor complaint though if its all it claims to be.

Just do a quick search, there has been quite a few topics, and yea, those are some of the 'rumoured' specs.
-
Those specs are pretty average for higher end notebooks nowadays, so yes I would imagine that they are true.
-
Since its on Asus website I wouldn't call it a rumour anymore , however it is left to see how the 7700 will perform in the 14" , some manufactors let you buy top speced GPUs at premium , what they don't tell you is that they are underclocked because of heat issues so you end up with a "7400" . -
True that, though why would one need a 14" and not buy a 15"?
-
The trade off used to be that you needed 15" and something around 3kg to get a notebook with decent graphics performance. Now that trade-off has shrunk to 14" form factor - increasing the portability as well as the performance. Hence the excitement over these models -the "gaming thin & light" notebooks. -
Yes I want the smallest gaming capable notebook I can get...I will be lugging it around
-
-
I'm somewhat disappointed that it only comes with 5400 rpm ...
Is rpm the only real factor with load times? Other than the obvious ... "background programs" and what-not. -
Well, besides HD rpm, the HD cache, CPU, cache, Memory, memory speed and timings.. and a whole bunch of other factors
I think 5400 is still fine for most ppl these days... 7200 will prob improve performance a bit, but also add a bit of heat to the machine IMO. -
Darrick. I feel like you're my fairy godmother ... following me around and answering my noob-questions for me. <3
I guess it wouldn't really be a big deal for the A8Js since it's high-performance in virtually everything?
I wish there was a better review around than the one posted from laptop magazine. -
Snakes on a Plane Notebook Consultant
too bad its the a8 build quality
-
Hows the W3j compared to the A8js? I guess the W3j will come in core 2 duo soon...and that is definately an option for me... wish I could configure it with a 7700 card...but I do like the w3j case alot.
-
Just do a forum search on 'W3j a8jm comparison' or something, there should be like a dozen pages of hits....
-
Katicflis : Never been called a fairy godmother before... hahaha... glad to be of help though...
Snakes: I think the A8's build quality is actually pretty good compared to most notebooks out there... of course it doesn't compare to your W3J, but still... it still holds its own in comparison to others... so can't really say 'too bad' about it.. -
Snakes on a Plane Notebook Consultant
no its definately not bad, they just need to release a w or v with these specs
A8Js...can these specs be true?
