I have been having an issue that has started recently involving the laptop fan on my A8JP. It seems that when I shut my lid occasionally, and reopen it - windows will resume no problem but I realise my laptop fan does not turn on like it always does, and my computer will heat up to extreme levels. All I have to do is restart my computer and my fan kicks back in.
Also, just to make sure, I re-formatted my pc and reinstalled vista x64, but it didn't seem to resolve the problem. Not sure what the problem is. Not sure if there is a driver for x64 vista that could be associated with this, and might be giving the issue?
Normally, my fan is on 24/7 reguardless of temp so I don't know whats going on. Anyone else experience this?

Do you have any third party programs interfering with your notebook? A while ago many have been complaining that Speedfan would stop the fans from working causing the laptop to heat up rapidly.
So check for third party programs that you may have, that could cause this. -
Nope, no 3rd party programs. Even happened after a fresh install of vista 64, only thing I installed was the drivers for the machine. It is possible there might be a bug with one of the drivers etc, don't know if the 64 bit atk driver has anything to do with it or not, I just don't know. I don't recall this happening before on 32bit vista or xp, but it may have just started, or it might be a problem with that.... I have no clue.

Ah I see, I was going to ask that next, double check for updates for certain drivers. You may need a new ACPI, since that may affect fans.
Just maybe you can use a 3rd Party program to control the fans for you? -
I can't find any fan control that works on vista 64bit, and as far as I can find, I don't see any other supported ATK driver which kind of sucks. Maybe it does have to do with that driver then. I need to use a 64bit for my work in visual studio, but this is kindof annoying, since I can't use xp 64 either because of lack of drivers.

I realised that the ACPI ATK100 driver that im using is from october of last year (from planetamd64), but it is the only one I can find. Is there any newer driver compatible with vista 64 that I can use? Maybe i'm just blind since I couldn't locate one.
