Is it possible to upgrade the ram to 2gb on an a8jp? Or is one of the sticks soldered into the module? Also, correct me if i'm wrong, but is the type of memory that the a8jp has 200pin and pc2 5300?

It's very easy to upgrade the RAM in the A8 series. Assuming you are looking at the bottom of the laptop with the LCD hinge on top, remove the top-left panel by unscrewing the 3 small phillip screws. Both RAM modules are easily removed by pushing the metal retainers on the side outwards, let the RAM pop up at a 45 degree angle, then pull it out. Reverse the steps to install the new RAM modules. So far, all 1GB PC5300 200 pin SO-DIMM DDR2 RAM modules have worked in the A8JP, but I recommend sticking with the popular brands such as Corsair, Kingston, PNY, and Crucial to ensure compatibility.
