Hi all I'm back again :D.

Well Ive got a few questions that need answering if thats ok.

    1) I uninstalled instantfun after doing a fresh install of xp when I took it out of the box (it was floor stock). The button that started up instant fun now starts up media player which is fine, but everytime I startup or bring my laptop out of hibernate, media player keeps poping up. I've looked everywhere for settings to change this but haven't been sucessful. Has anybody had this problem and were you able to solve it?

    2) The built in sd card reader isn't working. When I insert a card, it doesn't autorun or appear in explorer. Is there a driver I need for this?

    Thanks again guys.

    1) Your instantfun button is able to starts media player? wow, mines can't do anything except starting XP. I've an idea that may work ; shut down, wait an hour or so, then startup again. The instantfun light should be off, and the status "telling" the OS not to start instantfun related app.

    2) Yes, you'll need a driver for the card reader to work. Leave your driver disc in the dvd tray, open up device manager (Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device manager). look for devices marked with a yellow icon, right click the device and select update drivers. If my memory is right, it is named USB base device.

cheers mate I'll give the media player solution a go.

I tried to find the driver the way you suggested to, but the only driver it wants is a "modem device on high definition audio bus"??

All drivers can be downloaded from the Asus website, or from your recovery CD. You need the Ricoh card reader drivers.

Cheers, it's all fixed. Hopefully the wmp problem doesn't return, It's gone for now.

I've also noticed that when I run off the battery everything starts to slow down. Has this happened to anybody else? How can I tweak this?

Thanks again, your help is much appreciated.

I have this same problem. It's so annoying. If anyone knows a permanent solution (other than turning off the computer/removing the button drivers) I'd love to hear it. It has to do with some flaw in Asus' software I believe.

Are you saying that Media Center starts up, or your media player?

In any case, try this. When Media Center pops up, instead of closing the program down with the mouse, hold down the Instant Fun button, which should also close it. I think that will stop it from automatically starting again.

Let me know if this works.

tried your solution drew, didn't work. pressing the button once won't even close the program, same as holding it down.

Is there any way to configure the asus software loaded on, or is there an update with a fix?

thanks for your time but, It's much appreciated.

    1. Run: msconfig
    2. Under the 'Startup' Tab, Uncheck 'DMEDIA'

This should put an end to your problem. Good Luck!
