    I've decided to wait on a new laptop, but something struck me as curious, why do these two laptops have identical specs but the A8jp has a significantly better 3dMark score?

    Lower screen resolution, perhaps? Again, 3DMark is not very dependable; in addition, where do you get your scores? Different people have different things on while running the benchmark.

    Or maybe diffrent VGA BIOS? I've seen many same GPU on Asus laptop has diffrent VGA BIOS and they perform diffrently, at least according to this:
