    Hallo!
I'm new of this forum; sorry if I wrong something, and sorry for my English.
I've an F3JC Asus laptop and with Windows 7 it work well for my use (XP Mediacenter and Vista .... only crying!).
Now I want to instal an SSD drive instead the mechanical HD drive (OK, the controller support only Sata I but I've seen on other PC that SSD work quickly than HDD also on Sata I).
The best fro SSD use is set the controller in AHCI mode.
The F3JC has an Intel ICH7-M controller that support AHCI and RAID mode, but the Asus Bios don't has option to select these modalities.
I think it need a mod bios, it's right?
This is the link to original last bios: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download F3JC
    Can anybody help me?
    Thanks!

You can try using MMtool to see if the menu option is there, and then make a custom BIOS from MMtool with it unhidden. That's the only option I can think of to get AHCI if there is no option in the bios setup.

I've try to use AMIBCP: in the originale bios I don't see hide option to select AHCI/RAID, so I think it need to add a new option, or replace the controller configuration option or another not useless option.
I've read much about modding the bios but I'm not able to understand and I'm not able to mod the bios.
So I need help about this.
I hope you or other can help me.
    Bye

So AHCI is not needed for SSD?
