I have to say, this re-enforced the fact I didn't hold out for Turion. LoL!

Intel is impressive in these bench.

Thank you smilepak, that was really quite interesting. Easy to see the supremacy of the Pentium M. But, did you notice that there is really not too much difference between the Turion64 and the Athlon64??. I am thinking that with the release of the Turion.. the prices of the Athlon64 will keep coming down. Makes the Athlon64 a great option for people that don't need "the" best laptop (performance-wise) out there.

Yeah, one sad thing about Turion is some of the models coming out are still using the older graphics, such as ATI 9700. They don't have DDR2 support and speculation shown they will jump into DDR3 instead down the road.

Oh well. I just wish Intel release a new Dothan on this socket. I would love to do another CPU upgrade in the next year.

Asus' turion model has been long awaited.. but they want to put a 64mb 6600 go in it, and given the benchmarks, I'd tell AMD to stick to the performance side because right now they aren't at a point where they can match the battery life of centrino and still put out better numbers (which was supposed to be the point of turion)

    Thanks,
    Justin

does anyone know of a company that actually sells Turion64? I still can't find anybody that has them in stock or even any notebook manufacturer that actually uses them. It is great that AMD has made a better notebook CPU but noone is selling them yet. Only thing I have Intel is the higher price tag.

Are the Turion cpu's even out yet? I mean, we don't have Asus' turion model yet, so it hasn't exactly been a focus of mine, but.... I thought May was the release time.

    Thanks,

Turion64 is out and as far notebooks go you shouldn't need anything but a bios update in order to run the CPU on most current AMD64 notebooks. However, the information from AMD is not really abundant so don't quote me on this one.

Here are some more turion64 notebooks

and several other ones including an Asus system which I don't think is out yet. Oh well ...
