I recently bought a new Asus EEE PC 1201T from newegg... now this is the first time I've bought a computer from, but have been buying parts for years. After discovering their horrible return policy for computers - I won't be making this mistake again.

I received the computer quickly via UPS - under 3 days. It powered up and booted great. This particular computer didn't come with an OS - Just Asus's gateway Splashtop software which allows some limited functions. I installed Windows 7 on the machine and started noticing a loud obnoxious high pitch tone coming from somewhere inside the netbook. Now, mind you, this sound ONLY happened once Windows 7 was booted up. It would go away with a much lower screen resolution. I figured either the PSU was being strained or the GPU had its own problems so decided to RMA back to newegg. Was this a bad idea? Should I have sent it back to Asus instead? Is there another fix for this annoying "squeal" that I don't know about? I tinkered with all the power functions, and it usually got better when it was plugged in - but was barely still audible.

Any advice or suggestions would be great - as I havn't physically sent the netbook anywhere yet.

    Thanks in advance!
