I'm going to guess that it's not. The go7700, while an excellent mid-range GPU, would struggle to run resolutions above WSXGA+ with reasonable performance anyway.

Well, that's probably because they want to ensure compatability with their 30" Cinema Display... you're not planning on buying one, are you? :)

Interesting question, here's what i found out, read this. hopefully it will help.
    http://www.datapro.net/techinfo/dvi_info.html

As for the exact answer, i don't think the A8js has Dual Link capabilities because it doesn't state that it has it, plus the DVI port would require a lot of throughput to do so, which I don't believe the A8js has.

Howeve i believe the A8js can support high resolutions from the DVI port.

Sorry, i don't know the exact answer on this.

    Thanks,

    MysticGolem

I know the MacBook pros have this capability, and they are spec'd no better than the A8JS.

I'll have to disagree. What's on the laptop is a female port, which has to have all of the holes to be compatible with all cables.

On Nvidia's homepage for the Go 7700 series ( http://www.nvidia.com/object/go_7_series_techspecs.html) the following is stated:

    Advanced Display Functionality
Dual integrated 400MHz RAMDACs for display resolutions up to and including 2048x1536 at 85Hz
Dual DVO ports for interfacing to external TMDS transmitters and external TV encoders

That is disappointing considering that the X1600 has dual-link DVI.
