It's been a good run for my Asus battery but now it is time for a replacement. I've seen compatible batteries for as low as $25us to $116us(for the Asus one).
Anybody have any experience with the non-OEM batteries? I am a bit reluctant to not use the OEM battery because of all the problems you can hae with junk Li-on batteries but I hate to spend over $100 for one with a laptop that is probably closing in on its' end of life.

i dont recommend a battery of ebay or aftermarket. i have had mostly bad luck with them. if your old battery is dead try batteryrefill.com or the like. do not buy a replacement. have your old one recelled for less the price if a new one

Yeah a non-OEM battery is almost guaranteed to be garbage. If you can find a genuine asus one that doesn't cost a ton, go for that. But make sure it's genuine, it'll have a few stickers on it that should match your existing one. These can be faked of course, also check for the hue of the plastic being off-color.

Thanks for the replies. I was already highly suspicious of the aftermarkets.
@geared2play - IIRC I bought that laptop from you. It has been a good one.
