When will I likely be able to buy an A8Js in the UK?

ASUS UK don't have it listed on their site, and google doesn't throw anything up, does anybody have any idea?

    Thanks

There seems to be a couple of European countries carrying the A8Jp (x1700 instead of Go7700)... maybe Google that to see if there's any in the UK?

Edit: Found this in another thread just below... maybe ask these guys if they're gonna get it?

Asuslaptop are a bit of a nightmare in terms of giving ETA's.

Have you tried Nexus 13? They are the only other online retailers that do quite a bit of Asus trade.

Where do you live in the UK? Have you thought about going to Tott Ct Road in London?

Miles away from London so not really worth going down unless I knew somewhere had one. I don't mind waiting a few weeks, it's just at the moment nobody seems to have a proper date.

Hey if you do that, can you let us know how much they charge you?

I purchased mine from the UK from Proportable (I just transferred the money into his bank account) worked out really well, I was lucky enough to be going to the US so didn't pay duty, but for future reference I would like to know how much it would be?

Its usually around 20% more in all because they charge you 17.5% for vat then around 2.5-3% for import duty.

Plus parcelforce will charge you about £15 for having to pay the fee's already on your behalf which is a bit of a scam to be honest because surely the sender has already paid to cover that.

Im not sure now if i will buy from US as they wont accept credit card, just bank transfer, arse :(

Im gonna ring asus tomorrow and complain as every shop i have tried has been utterly useless and unhelpful. You'd think they would be gagging to take your money....

Maybe if everyone here does the same we might get somewhere

While youre at it tell them they need to release their laptops with faster processors!! ha ha.

Actually the bank transfer worked out well, I just went to my bank Lloyds, filled out a form paid 15-20 quid and it was done, full spec 2gb RAM + hdd multibay draw (W3J) and it was still cheaper than the UK base spec model!

With ordering from the States / Canada, what about the warranty issue? One year or two year?

I think it's an international warranty?

I think as mentioned by a couple resellers, ASUS has now made the North American warranty also 2 year global instead of the 1 year previously... so I'd assume you'd also get 2 years global warranty.

Emailed a couple of retailers in the UK, but nobody seems to know. Asuslaptops said Friday gone, but I'm not convinced they were referring to the A8js, just the A8 series being (back) in stock.

    Anybody know any more?
