gaming performance: i think 4... same as Asus G1, better than Asus G2...
build quality: 4
Screen quality: 3
Battery: 4
total: 1 to 5? 7! i really love this note!! it have blast performance!!! -
mine is 8 months old now. Its still the most powerful machine of its size for sale for any price.....
So its a 5 on performance.
the build quality is 3. I have scratches and peice of broken plastic on the body. However it runs almost superhumanly cool if you can include that in build quality it would be 5. My roomate has a 17 inch e1705 with intel 950 and it is so much hotter.
screen quality is 4
battery is 3. It doesnt have enough battery for a movie, that is the benchmark for me. I have 2 batteries. It is not enough realistically for me so I cant give it higher.
im like 4 or 5. I got mine months before the g1 came out. I think I would have bought the g1 if they were both my options.
But I do like the small size and the small bag -
Just got mine several weeks ago.... not really had time to play around with it, cos my exams are on...anyway...so far here's what i think:
Gaming performance :n/a i havent played any games on it yet, as my exams are on...i will try with cnc3 and stalker as soon as my exams are done... which is soon.. but i heard the gaming performance is good.. that's why i got it in the first place
Build quality :4... there's a part on my js which is poorly fitted, causing the hinges to be uneven.... but still, it's much better than my previous dell, if that's any benchmark at all
Screen quality :3... i got the crappy AUO screen which leaks light and has some bad viewing angle problems... but it could be different if you got the CUO one...
Battery Life :n/a... i havent really tried this out
overall is a 4...
p/s... i have a question.... is the performance-affecting difference between the G1 and A8js the RAM? they have the same video card and processors, right? i mean apart from the other factors that do not afect gaming performance like screen size/hdd space/cosmetics etc.... -
I have an A8jp, which is the same as the A8js with a diff. video card. I don't play games either...
Performance: 5 for the price
Screen: 2 or maybe 3, which means it is an utter failure of a screen. Out of all the bad 14 inch screens that exist, these are the worst, hands down. (Forget about the wash, viewing angles, there are sparkles underneath, which was a huge problem in some 17 inch screens a few years ago).
Building Quality: Eh.. it creaks, not very solid. Maybe 3 or 4.
Battery life: poor ... a 3.
I'm selling this laptop when the new Dell models get released (or a santa rosa refresh). All this thing has going for it is it's nice looks (Professional and not gaudy) and great performance. Otherwise, it has lots of problems, probably not a keeper. -
Gaming performance : 4 .. i've beta tested lotro with this computer .. settings were decently high .. but i wouldn't use a laptop for gaming anyways .. it does get the job done
Build quality : 4 .. i really have no qualms with it .. it's sturdy imo .. light weight enough for me to walk to class and back with it
Screen quality : 3.5 .. depends on what you get .. i have the AUO1247 .. there is some light leakage on the bottom .. but it's all up to the user .. i really like it .. however since it is widescreen .. some streaming videos online that use windows media player will sometimes not properly fit in the window that the website sets via the html (width = xxx, height = xxx) .. could just be me .. i'm running it on 1440x900. also i'd like to say gaming on a widescreen is just wack .. things don't look proportional if the screen settings are incorrect.
Battery Life : 1 .. this thing sucks period .. i like my screen bright while i'm working on it .. so with usage, high brightness .. those 1 1/2hrs gets drained by quick .. i never run this laptop without it being plugged into a wall outlet. -
You know I wanted to point out that my a8js overclocks about 50 mhz more than any g1 owner has reported. So my a8js could be faster in games than any g1
-
when i got my A8JS. i would rate it being 2.
it sucked as hell
ram consumption while surfing internet + msn would be around 70-80%
however, after i bought an extra 1gig ram, everything worked wonder.
now its only around 40-50%
so, an extra 1gig ram is highly recommended (pS: thats if you are using vista)
gaming performance..not bad, give it a 4.5 i guess.
although i was expecting more b4 since its 512mb vcard, but its not bad i guess.
