hi im new here, but ive been browsing the notebook forums for a long time. i did a little search through threads but to no avail.

basically my problem is, i newly installed xp on my system and found a heap of troubles with the drivers. i finally got everything working but the only thing i cant install is bluetooth. basically device manager does not detect anything bluetooth and it currently has a no unrecognised devices. when i try running the latest bluetooth driver install from toshiba it goes up to the last step of the installation (which is driver installation, not the wizard and bluetooth apps) and takes a long time then a popup appears asking me to plugin the bluetooth device and try again. i click cancel and the install just says its complete. if i turn on or off bluetooth via the wireless console, it makes that noise in windows when it detects some new pgnp hardware. but nothing really changes the fact that bluetooth isnt detecting on my system i have reinstalled twice and it has not helped.

my only conclusion is that its hardware problem and not installed properly or sth. but the thing is bluetooth is like the only thing that came with the actual barebone right? thats so wierd :S.

any1 help me out here? thanks

also, i tried installing vista as a dual boot. but i cudnt even install it, im doing a dual boot with xp installed already then vista. but vista just stays forever on the loading screen. i literarlly left it and waited for 2 hrs and it didnt load. sigh i dunno whats going on with this thing.

also is there a bios update asus website doesnt have it. i dunno how to use the asus driver wizard. i installed the activex. but the drivers it gives me are suspiciously not for c90. if i search for c90 drivers it just gives me ones i already have.

for xp, install the wireless console first. when asked to plug in the bluetooth device, disable wireless and bluetooth via wireless console and then turn bluetooth back on. it should install now.

My c90 came with Vista and everything worked. Except Vista with my main software, Maya. So I had to install XP.

I also don't have bluetooth working, and I can't get the console to work either. I installed it first, but it couldn't detect any wireless devices. But I got the WiFi working by installing the Intel Wireless Lan software from Intel (nothing on the Asus site worked). Wireless devices still aren't detected by the console. And yet, there's my WiFi working perfectly.

I tried installing the bluetooth drivers from the Asus site, and it pops up a menu that says "Please plug in the Bluetooth device and click OK".

Any other suggestions that don't involve the console (which doesn't even appear under the drivers for XP on the asus site).

    Thanks.

Go to the Asus download page, select notebooks, drivers, bluetooth. These are the newer bluetooth drivers. Now all you have to do is:
    1. install this version before your wireless drivers and before the wireless console.

    2. install the wireless console first and then the bluetooth driver

3.install the wireless console first and then the bluetooth driver and IF it ask you to plug in the bluetooth, open the console, disable all devices, then reenable bluetooh.

Its one of these im not sure which since I dont use Vista often.

Just like this, have you tried the WinXP Compatability mode under vista for Maya?

i still cant get vista running, any ideas? it just freezes up

after install i go to the boot screen and choose vista, i noe i dont have to edit the bootloader unless i installed xp second. so technically it shud just boot up immediately rite?

    sigh this is frustrating

That should have been the default mode for Vista from day one. Since I'm using an older version of Maya, I'm not willing to take the chance. Vista has nothing I want, and since I flushed it and installed XP, I am not going to give it a second chance on this machine.

I'm not sure if you're responding to me, but I no longer have Vista. I had to install XP, and that's where all my annoying problems started. I finally got the wireless working, and as I had no bluetooth devices at the time, I didn't try. It'll be a PITA to de-install the wireless and re-install it. But I'll give it a try.

    Edit:
I was right about the PITA. It took several tries of trying to uninstall the wireless driver before I figured out that I had to disable it. In between the uninstall, and XP rediscovering the WiFi hardware, I could install the BT drivers. Otherwise, it couldn't find the BT hardware. The timing had to be perfect for it to work.

Thanks for the help on this. All is good. Carry on ;)

Funny, but the Wireless Console 2 turns the bluetooth on and off, but it won't turn the WiFi on and off.
