Hi there, first post on this forum which I have found it very useful the past couple of days.
After reading almost all the C90 posts on this forum I've taken the risks onboard, weighed it up and decided to go for it. I chose the C90S as I am currently a Shuttle PC owner and have enjoyed the power of a desktop pc in a semi portable unit. I have been lugging a shuttle between offices in a backpack the past two years so in comparison the C90S will be liberating!
Although I mainly work at a desk I do a fair bit of long haul flying so it would be nice if I could use my C90S on the plane for a decent amount of time. Unfortunately battery time is short so I was wondering if any one knows of a External Battery charger? I would like to have a couple of batteries and be able to charge them separately. Having 2 or 3 batteries that I can charge at home before a long trip would be ideal.

yah im with ya, i have an extra battery and would like to have an external charger also - have had no luck though, but then again, i haven't searched too much

I've had a little look around and found out about 'universal external battery packs'
Heres one -> http://www.laptopshop.co.uk/SPS-Maxpower_90-laptop_battery-4257-1-b9.htm
Thing is though it says max output is 72W and the asus website says the charger/AC adapter outputs: 90W. So I figure it wont work?
Also how much capacity does the C90S battery have? The external battery linked above says Maximum Capacity: 140Wh. If the asus internal battery runs for around 90mins it shouldnt be to hard to figure out how long a 140Wh battery would run the c90 for - soon as we know the capacity for the c90s internal battery in Wh that is
I hope I can get an external battery charger for the c90 bat at least - external battery would be cool but £200!!! I've spent enough already.

a 6 cell battery is 63whr

Ok so one of these external battery packs could power the C90 for around 3hours 15mins. Thats not bad. But would be cheaper to get three batterys and swap, although you need to shut down each time

are you on vista?? if so then just program the lappie to hibernate when the battery reaches (say 10%) then the system will go into "deep sleep" saving everything as it is. then switch battery and wake up. the desktop will look exactly as before ,all programs and files will be open and be excatly as before the hibernation.

I didnt think of that. Thats great if it works...
why just Vista, you cant sleep on XP? I will be using XP, dont see myself using vista for at least another year.
If I can do it on XP then all I need to get is an external charger and a bunch of batteries to pack in my bag for flights.
Surely asus or some company will have an external battery charger for the C90?

cant remember cause I used to be on a desktop so I never used it before my c90 with vista... btw i already tried and it works great just remember to wait for hibernation process to end before taking the battery out
also vista has sleep and hibernation the one im talking about is hibernation
