Most often, BSODs in the C90 are due to incompatible RAM. Did you check that your RAM is on the list of "successful RAMs for the C90"? The thread containing the list is linked from the Info Booth.

I am not sure that your problem is caused by this, but it's a good candidate. Maybe a C90 owner can help more.

Being a previous C90S user, incompatible ram is likely your problem from what you have been describing. Running in battery mode, AC mode, and gaming modes stresses on the memory frequencies and some memory are just not designed to fluctuate their speed and are made only to run at one speed.

Finding the ram most stable for the C90S is crucial. Check out the C90S memory success thread and find the appropriate ram.

If you purchased it from a reseller/dealer, I recommend to go to them first and tell them about the memory incompatibility issue. They may swap the memory modules for you at no cost.

Simple solution: install XP, problem solved!

I would love to use Vista on my C90S, but the fact is this notebook does not like Vista. DX10 isn't even worth it on the C90S since it only has a 8600M GT currently.

I am not sure memtest86 will show the fault, because the memory is not faulty -- it is incompatible with the hardware.

Moreover, since this is a barebones you probably got the RAM yourself. Since the RAM is the problem, I don't know whether they will address this issue from warranty.

If you bought it as a whole package from the store, you can go back to them and explain the problem, get a RAM exchange. Do check that RAM thread in advance.

Seems like the 2 GB Kingston, pc2-5300, 667 Mhz RAM | 1 GB Nanya, PC2-5300, 667 MHz RAM works best together. But still problem that in my country it would be a problem to get Nanya. Kingston is wide-use i think no problem.

Weren't there problems with 3GB of RAM on the C90 as well? I don't remember exactly, make sure about that though.

As it said that C90S supports only 3GB max cap (not sure now but in prewious BIOS it does) i think it shouldn't be any problems.

What I meant was that I vaguely remember problems with C90 and 3GB of RAM, even though the official statement says that it supports 3GB. You should check for that before buying 3GB of RAM.

problems with c90 RAM is usually with the 2gb stick. Can you boot in battery without problems ? I got a 2gbx 1pc. corsair before, and it never let me boot on battery. I sold it and bought a new kingston, got rid of the problem.

2nd, try to remove ALL USB devices plugged in ur c90 ( mouse, notebook cooler, etc. ) and wait for for it to load windows desktop before connecting any USB device. this removed the BSOD's for me.

3rd, always update ur OS ( windows update ). Hope you solve ur BSOD's soon. goodluck !

    This is great advise.
When NB is shut down, USB still feeds connected devices and on boot up they screw up BIOS. I believe it is cooler

What the heck do you mean, all the buttons work most of the time, the only thing thats not working right now is the touchpad off and on, but that's because I screwed up the synaptic drivers. And XP is still a good basic OS if all you need is a basic OS to run your stuff. I love Vista and I have it on most of my PCs at home, but I'm stuck 9.5 hours at work and XP has yet to experience 1 BSOD where as with Vista I can go in streaks and if I plug to many things into the USB ports I get a BSOD.

I think he means that he did not install properly the ATK drivers and utilities. And that XP is obsolete as Microsoft's marketing campaign would have us believe. :)

1st. Yea it boots normaly on battery.

2nd. Tryed that + taken off battery before turn on = works fine. ( not rly good tested )

    3rd. My OS full updated.

By the way i noticed one interesting thing, that when i reboot/shut down my NB it usualy gets 3 of BSOD's and after that again works normal.

Like we all have said, it's memory incompatibility issues. You need to bring that back to the reseller and swap compatible ram in there. There is no other way this would work.
