Just ran 3dMark06 on my Asus C90s, got a score of 3800+ Thats kinda disappointing, based on other scores from lower end rigs. I've ran through most of the threads here on the Asus C90s, and have updated my BIOS to 801. My C90's specs include a E6700, Geforce 8600 256 DDR3 and a 200GB Hitachi 7200rpm Harddrive. Running through the threads here, i realised that the two main causes for the crappy score is due to the laptop overheating, or driver issues. I've got a coolermaster laptop cooler, as well as a standing fan blowing right at my laptop, so temperatures should be OK. So maybe its my graphic card drivers. Far as i know, seems that the DDR3 has no driver support, read about people having to reformat their comp over driver issues. Just want to know, are there ANY drivers out there for the DDR3, besides the ones shipped with the comp, and if so, would these drivers improve my 3dMark score?
Any other suggestions to improve my 3dMark score would help also. Live in Singapore, no radioshack or Wal-Marts nearby to buy all tt DIY stuff, so i guess modding my comp is out of the question. Thanks all

there are TONS of drivers available for the 8600m gt
go to laptopvideo2go.com for all of the latest releases (i believe 169.09 is the latest)
however - dont have too many high expectations for the 8600m gt - at 3800, you seem to be right where you should be in terms of 3dmark06 scores - i mean, you could try overclocking - but keep in mind that that could be a risky proposition
are there some games youre having difficulty with?
EDIT - you can also check asus' website for their latest stock drivers - but those will definitely be a little older than what youll find on laptopvideo2go... -
Strange I get about 2500, with my setup: E6600, 3Gig, 8600GT GDDR 256( Driver 169.09) and a 7200rpm 160gb seagate.

^ try the 169.04 driver
on my g1s, which is a t7300 (2.0GHz), 2GB Ram, 8600M GT (256mb), 160GB HD (5400) - i get 3700 with the stock drivers
with 169.04, i get 3900 - i actually saw my numbers decrease with 169.09 - so i went back to 169.04...
EDIT - i actually increased the system ram to 3gb - and my numbers went down to 3800 - so i think im gonna return the 2gig dimm and stick with the 2gb of dual channel ram... -

As far as I know the stock drivers are still the only ones working properly for the 256mb GDDR3 card.

Wish I had the driver disk that came with the laptop...
Anyone know where I can download it from?

I finally broke 4k with 167.26, and 169.04 are my current drivers of choice, some weird graphics bugs with 169.09.

If Vestlia has the ddr2 card and ran everything stock/standard, he's been feeding his GPU Wheaties for breakfast or something

I'm considering the c90s cause it's so much cheaper for the stuff you get, and I'm a gamer, so I'd want the 8600gt gddr3. Are there any disadvantages to using the stock drivers? How soon would you bank on new drivers/cards being released? and, basically, is it a good machine for a poor gamer
?

I know bumps are frowned upon, but what the hay
*bump* -

So, there aren't any games that are incompatible with the drivers that come stock with the 8600gt ddr3? Call me stupid but why would you need new drivers then?

Gamers like to upgrade vid drivers, it's in our blood lol

Haha, for me it's like a worst nightmare!
