My netbook with a screen 16 x 9 spontaneously switched to 4 x 3. The lower rows are not visible on the screen. This happens not only in the windows, but on the screen BIOS without windows too.
How can I restore the graphics card mode to its original, normal state (may be in command line mode)?

This might be caused by a defective screen.
Try updating the BIOS and see if it can be resolved or not.
If problem persists, then you may have to request RMA through ASUS if it's still under warranty. Otherwise, you can replace it yourself by searching for replacement panel on eBay instead.
